We all love to travel.
Every once in a while, people leave their homes and voyage all over the globe;
seeking adventure, explore new places, and challenge themselves with new
people, cultures, and experiences. The reasons why people travel are different
and personal. If you were asked what motivates you to travel, you would maybe
list one of the following reasons:
- You love to challenge yourself
with new cultures
- You love to learn new things
- You love to meet new people
- You want to escape from your
problems
- Or you just want to relax and
refresh your mind
No matter what motivates you,
traveling is a truly amazing experience. Let us take look at these motivations
and you will be able to find where you fit the most.
Challenging yourself with new cultures
Probably, this is the strongest
reason why people love to travel. They want to experience something unfamiliar.
New food, new music, a new language, new cultures, it is amazing cultural differences
can make this world so beautiful. Even though it can be sometimes challenging
to find yourself at a new place, surrounded by new people, the more people
travel, the better they learn to adapt to those changes. Traveling opens
People’s minds and makes them appreciate other cultures because they start to
see how people can do things differently and still cope with it. You may see
people that act different and think that they are weird; that’s fine but,
traveling will help you realize that it is what makes diversity interesting
instead.
Learning new things
Every destination has something
unique to teach you, and as people move from place to place and meet new
people, willingly or not, they will find themselves learning new things.
Whether it be a new language, a new cuisine, or aspects of a different culture,
the more people travel, the more they become intensely curious about how to do
things differently.
Meeting
new people
Not only you will learn new things
from people that you meet, but also, they will help you to learn who you are, and
understand yourself better and how others perceive you. By being so different
from you, they help you to reflect on your life and allow you to know your
strengths and flaws and to improve our self-awareness. Also, meeting and
talking with new people increases your network and creates you new
opportunities that help you to solve your problem while solving theirs as well.
Escaping
from your problems
Very often in life, we encounter different
problems that can affect us mentally or physically, and it is during these
difficult times that you will see a lot of people getting addicted to drugs or
other things, looking for a getaway. However, all of these things can only help
for a little while. Traveling to a new place with lots of distractions can be a
great relief from any kind of stress.
Relaxing and refreshing your mind
You may not be trying to escape from your
problems, but everyone can enjoy a good vacation away from their daily routines.
In particular, a relaxing vacation can help people who are too attached to
their job to refresh themselves. However, most people do not profit from such
vacations because there are little things they do not consider. You must have
in mind that you are there for relaxing only and nothing else. Should you check
your emails? Should your check your social media accounts? Remember you are
there to have some refreshments. So, when the purpose of your trip is to relax,
forget for a while anything that can bring you back to your daily routine and
enjoy yourself.
"Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world, you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you."-Anthony Bourdain
